This is my first attempt at ventriloquial scat singing since I was employed full-time as a school assembly entertainer. At the time, I was using a cat puppet, named Al E. Cat. He had this "cool" look, so I decided to give him a jazzy persona. It was a ton of fun and the kids loved him, but he belonged with the company. Applying that to one of my own characters was a bit of a challenge. "Foster" the banana was built by my good friend and puppet maker, Smith Handerson. His eyes looked a little strung out to me, so I decided to play him off as a sad blues singer who might've had a little too much to drink the night before. He's not a fully developed character as of now. I am still working on a bit with him for my act. This is only one piece of the puzzle. Enjoy! Here is my very first video with a character I bought at the VHC convention a couple years back. This puppet was constructed by a good friend of mine named Smith Handerson. When I saw this character, I thought he looked devastated. I felt the most necessary personality was a self-loathing blues singer. Enjoy! |
